There has not been further information released as to the investigation and what police believe caused the Lordsburg trucking accident The general information that we know is that a 2015 Freightliner tractor trailer was traveling east on Interstate 10 when it crossed the center median and hit a Kenworth tractor trailer traveling west head on. The Freightliner then hit a Bodge pickup truck which was also traveling west. Both of the tractor trailers caught fire, and the drivers of both trucks died, and a passenger in the pickup truck. Now the driver of the pickup truck has also passed away.
This Lordsburg trucking accident is horrible and a real tragic crash. There are still a lot of mysteries with it too because we are still unsure what caused the first truck to cross the centerline. This is also a complicated because one truck driver was from California, one family was from Arizona, and the other driver was from Texas, but the trucking accident occurred in New Mexico. No matter what, a New Mexico trucking accident attorney is needed. This is because the venue is most appropriate in New Mexico where the situs of the crash occurred.
Under New Mexico law, a personal representative of a wrongful death victim may commence an action against a party liable for causing the wrongful death. While this most be brought within 3 years of the date of death, in a trucking accident it should be brought as soon as possible because of the trucking data. That is because 18 wheelers have ECM chips, which function like black boxes and record important data. Once a truck is released from law enforcement, the trucking company and their insurance carrier will race to pull that data. They may also destroy, tamper, or completely erase that data. Sometimes this is by accident, but other times it is intentional.
